How to Build a Sensory Wall

Our son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder at age 3. Many sensory items help him with his sensory integration therapy. Check her later on to learn more about sensory integration!

Here is an easy sensory wall that you can build using cardboard and items from the Dollar Tree! This will be put up on our son's sensory room wall!

On the sensory wall we included a variety of textures and things to touch. When you are creating a sensory wall, you should select a variety of textures and can use anything that can be glued to a board! We used things from almost every department and it turned out great!

Every wall can be as unique as the child that is using it. In addition to those with sensory needs, this can be used for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and more!

On this wall, we used a very thick piece of cardboard that was a part of an appliance box. We hot glued the items to the board and then we will use the 3M velcro picture hangers on the back to attach it to the actual wall. This is what we included on our wall:

  • Washing cloth

  • microfiber cloth

  • mop pad
