We created a super fun sensory bin to play with our monster trucks! This was a super easy and quick. My son absolutely loves it and plays with it often. We can also dump it out and play in a larger area and add more ramps to it for more in the Monster Jam fun!
We made ramps using Air Dry Clay. We chose terracotta clay because we did not need to paint it after. It was the same color as the dirt. There are other options for colors, but if you want it to have anything beyond white, you would have to paint the ramps. We really like the color of the clay that we chose. We shaped the ramps to fit into specific spots of the bin. Then we made tracks on the ramps using the monster trucks. This made it look like the ramps were used often.
While the ramps were drying, we worked on setting up the dirt and the other parts of the Arena. The first part of the landscape was kinetic sand. We chose regular sand color so it would match the other items we had. We laid the sand down in the container and then poured the monster dirt on top. This dirt was apart of the Monster Jam kits. It is a special kind of kinetic sand that is a little thicker and darker. My son used this opportunity to use his construction trucks and vehicles to create the track. This was a sensory experience in itself. We did not rush creating it, as this was tons of fun for him.
After the sand was settled, we got a monster truck and made lots of tracks all over the dirt to match the ramp. This was another fun sensory play opportunity!
Then it was time to add the ramps and other accessories! We added some items like the starting line from the Monster Jam set and the finish line with fireworks. The fun part about this Monster Jam sensory bin is that you can change the course to be anything you want each day!
